★ ACTIVE-DUTY VA BENEFITS GUIDE

Can You File Before Separation?
Yes—Timing Matters.

Active-duty service members can begin preparing a VA disability claim before leaving service. If you are 180 to 90 days from separation, you may qualify for the Benefits Delivery at Discharge program.

Document current conditions, treatment, in-service events, and how each condition affects you. Keep copies of service treatment records and your separation paperwork.
